Abstract: Investigation and analysis on Pinus massoniana Lamb. germplasm bank which was carried on Weimin Forest Farm of Fujian province, and the results showed that there were significant variation on growth among germplasms. There were much more improved on the traits such as tree heights, diameter of breast height(DBH)and natural pruning ability for the 2nd generation germplasm to compare with those from the 1st generation. But it was opposite in crown and branching angle between the two generations germplasm. Compared with germplasm selected for resin productivity, the germplasm selected for wood production had more vigorous growth and ideal natural pruning ability, but narrower crown and smaller branching angle. The fertility(i.e. male or female flowers)for the progenies of provenance was the highest, for the progenies of plus tree was mediumand the progenies from germplasm selected for pulping and solid wood production had lower flowering. Depend upon the growth and fertility evaluation, the 537 copies of masson pine germplasms could be classified into four groups, marked with excellent, medium, relatively poor and poor marks, respectively, in which there were 84 copies of germplasm in excellent group.
