Abstract: Bleaching of Liriodendron tulipifera was carried out for improving the utilization efficiency and maximizing the value of Liriodendron tulipifera using hydrogen peroxide as the bleaching reagent, and the optimum bleaching conditions were determined by orthogonal tests. The degree of color difference and whiteness of bleached wood were measured and analyzed in terms of different mass fractions of agents and different process parameters. Considering the actual production conditions, the optimal bleaching process were as follows:the hydrogen peroxide mass fraction 6%,the bleaching solution pH 9.5-10.0,the Na2SiO3 mass fraction 0.4%,the bleaching temperature 70 ℃ and a duration 60-90 min. The uneven wood color was effectively eliminated and the overall color of the test material was lightened under this process. The color difference and whiteness were 21.27 NBS and 62.12%, respectively. The result has guided significance for improving utilization rate of Liriodendron tulipifera.
