Abstract: Abstract: 【Objective】 The volatile components from the pine needles of P. taiwanensis were analyzed and contrasted with those of P. massoniana to aid in the development and utilization of the pine needles of Pinus taiwanensis.【Methods】The comparative methods of head-space solid phase micro-extraction and GC-MS have been explored, and were applied for the first time to comparatively analyze the differences in the components of pine needles from the two species.【Results】The results showed that 59 and 42 kinds of compounds were identified from the pine needles of P. taiwanensis and P. massoniana, respectively. The two pine species had 36 components in common, accounting for 90.26%(P. taiwanensis)and 96.09%(P. massoniana)of the total peak area. The compound α-pinene was the highest in content, which was 24.08% for P. taiwanensis and 36.25% for P. massoniana. However, 23 types of components were found only in the needles of P. taiwanensis; of which, p-cymene(5.67%)was the highest in content. 【Conclusion】The types of the main volatile components in the two species were similar, but there were also obvious differences in their contents. Compared with P. massoniana, the pine needles of P. taiwanensis contained more kinds of volatile and active components. This study provided scientific evidence for the development and utilization of the pine needles from P. taiwanensis.
