Abstract: 【Objective】The present study investigated the soil total carbon(TC), soil organic carbon(SOC), soil C/N and their distribution characteristics among seven forest types(pine forest, Chinese fir forest, Cryptomeria fortunei forest, broad-leaved forest, mixed forest, bamboo forest and tea plantation)to improve the management of soil carbon pools in Wuyanling Nature Reserve, Zhejiang Province, China.【Method】The TC content and SOC content of seven forest types were determined by Shimadzu TOC-LCPH total organic carbon analyzer, the corresponding soil carbon densities and C/N were calculated, the relationships of TC density, SOC density, C/N with soil physical and chemical parameters were analyzed. 【Result】 The SOC density of the 0-40 cm layers in Wuyanling Nature Reserve were between 84.53-183.26 t/hm2, with an average value of 118.06 t/hm2, and the highest SOC density was found in the Chinese fir forest. The C/N for the soil layers and forest types ranged between 8.32-21.88, except for the C/N in the layer 0-10 cm in the Chinese fir forest, which was higher than 25. The soil TC density, SOC density, and C/N among seven forest types in Wuyanling Nature Reserve showed no significant difference(P > 0.05). The soil TC density and C/N decreased with increasing of soil depth, showed obvious characteristics of surface aggregation, and there was a significant difference among different soil layers(P < 0.05). There was a significant positive correlation of TC density, SOC density with soil available potassium(AK)content(P < 0.05), and showed an extremely significant positive correlation of C/N with soil AK content(P < 0.01)were observed. 【Conclusion】 Soil AK content can be used as a common significant indicator for TC density, SOC density, and C/N in Wuyanling Nature Reserve.
