Abstract: The tortrix Homona magnanima Diaknoff is an important insect pest of fossil tree Metasequoia glyptostroboides in Jiangsu Province. It has 3 to 4 generations a year in Teizhou. The larvae may cause serious injury to the leaves and young buds. They web serious leaves together to form a temporary nest. The larval stage has five instars and mature larva pupates mostly in the nest. Control experiments in the laboratory and field showed that trichlophon, sumithon and fenvalerate were very effective.
