Abstract: in this paper, Constituents of the peanut hulls were systematically studied for proving a theoreticalbasis in utilizing peanut hulls as raw materials for wood adhesives. The results show that themain constituents of peanut hulls are lignin, cellulos and hemicellulose.Compared with the other plants, the content of hot water extractives is low, while the lignin content is high. The main holocelluloseconstituents are glucose and xylose, accompanied by the small amount of rhammrse, at a hexose:pentose ratio 3. 4:1.The type of lignin belongs to GHS,while S is unsignificant. The moleculeweight of lignin is quite low ranging mainly from 10~3 to 10~4,favourable to the preparation of adhesives.
