Abstract: Noise reduction characteristic of successive type dense grade bituminous mixture from rubber particle was studied, as well as vibration and noise reduction performance trends of mixture was analyzed under the different rubber particles’ content and particle size in this paper. The results showed that it’s feasible to rubber particle to be applied to successive type dense grade rubber particle bituminous pavement. The structural depth and the dynamic modulus were increased along with increasing the content or decreasing the particle size of rubber particles in the bituminous mixture, furthermore, the springback ratio, springback value, acceleration of vertical motion and phase angle of the bituminous mixture were all decreased. It was shown from the aforesaid results that the noisereduction capability of the rubber particle bituminous mixture was increased. Moreover, the dynamic state tests at different loading frequencies indicated that the faster was the vehicle speed, the slower was the energy fading between pavement and tyre, and leaded to the bigger vibrational noise.
