Abstract: To find out a high virulent strain of Beauveria bassiana against Hylobitelus xiaoi Zhang, six strains of B.bassiana were tested for their colony growth, sporogenous ability, spore germination rate, heatresistant, ultravioletresistant and virulence to H.xiaoi Zhang adults. The results showed that the virulent strains to H.xiaoi of B6 and B3 were better than the other ones, their mortality both reached 90 % and cadaver rates reached 80 % after 20 days. The mycelium growth rate of the B6 strain, whose mycelium diameter reached 24.21 mm after 14 days, was the fastest of all. Also the B6 strain was the first one who begun to sporulate (108 hours) and its spore production was the highest, which reached 12.15 ×107 spores per square millimeter. Although the spore germination rate of the B3 strain was the highest which reached 71.07 % in 36 hours and both its heatresistant and ultravioletresistant were the best of all, its spore production on PPDA was the lowest. So the B6 strain may be considered as a potential source of a biocontrol agent of H.xiaoi adult.
