Abstract: The removal efficiency of lipophilic extractives from wheat straw(WS)by Candida cylindracea lipases was investigated using response surface method. The results showed that the lipase dosage was the most significant and the temperature was the least significant among all parameters including lipase dosage, temperature, pH and time during the lipase treatment. The removal rate of lipophilic extractives increased with the lipase dosage increasing and the treatment time prolonging. The optimal temperature and pH were 46℃ and 7.6, respectively. The maximum removing rate of lipophilic extractives reached 61.1% at aforesaid conditions. It was indicated that the lipases can effectively remove the lipophilic extractives from WS,and the lipace treatment was an effective method to improve WS wettability.
