Abstract: A study was conducted on the germination, seed viability and some physiological and biochemical indices of Pseudolarix kaempferi seeds collected from Arboretum of Nanjing Forestry University on October 24, 2009 under the condition of seed preservation. The results were described as follows:(1)Critical humidity was 3%-4%. Germination rate, seed viability and POD activity these 3 indices each exists a significant negative correlation with moisture content. The relativity were ordered in a descending row as seed viability, POD activity and germination rate.(2)Soluble protein, crude fat, MDA content, free proline content, SOD activity and POD activity these 6 indices each exists a significant negative correlation with germination rate and seed viability. Relativity of correlation between germination rate and these 6 indices were ordered in a descending row as SOD activity, MDA content, soluble protein, free proline content, POD activity and crude, and the relativity of correlation between seed viability and these 6 indices were ordered in a descending row as SOD activity, POD activity, free proline content. crude fat, soluble protein and MDA content.(3)Negative correlation were found between O-· 2 content and soluble sugar and also starch content, while positive correlation between O-· 2 content and MDA content were significant.(4)No significant correlation was found between soluble sugar and starch content these 2 indices and other physiological and biochemical indices.
