Abstract

The structural characteristics and technological effect of HMA electric far infrared ray drying kiln, which was built at Guizhou Forest Machinery Factory, were observed by means of some of property of the kiln and technologic on drying Tsuga chinensis and Pinus massoniana planks. The kiln is simple in structure, consumes little energy and has good heat preservation, but it is not well airtighted. The air flow in the drying chamber is weak, the temperature distribution in the wood stack is uneven. and the kiln has no perfect control systems. Such problems as surface and end cracks, great deformation, and uneven distribution of final moisture content were observed during the process of drying Tsuga chinensis and Pinus massoniana planks in the kiln.
