Abstract: The analytic trees for 924 firs(Abies fabri), 844 spruces(Picea asperata), 183 birchs(Betula platphylla), 158 aspens(Populus davidiana)and 227 larchs(Larix olgensis)were selected to establish the models of diameter growth for dominant tree species in the Changbai Mountain. The study was conducted in 245 spruce-fir and broad-leaved mixed forests, 32 birch-aspen mixed broad leaved secondary forests, 260 plantation forests consisting of larch. At a certain site, we analyzed the stand growth process for the average diameter, tree height, number of trees per unit area and volume of three dominant forest types in Changbai Mountain based on diameter growth models of the dominant tree species. Besides, the fitting growth process models were tested by the permanent sample plots of 28 spruce-fir and broad-leaved mixed forests, 4 birch-aspen mixed broad leaved secondary forests and 30 plantation forests consisting of larch which did not participate model fitting. It was found that the relative error of estimation was 3.26%-4.96% and the estimated accuracy was 95.04%-96.74%.
