Abstract: Droplet size has an important effect on the deposit distribution properties and pest control. In order to study the performance of the new hollow cone nozzle, HELOS/QUIXEL laser particle size analyzer was applied to measure droplet size at different nozzle structure parameters, spray pressure and spray distance. The relationship between different test parameters and the droplet size was then analyzed by variance analysis and orthogonal analysis. Furthermore the multiple regression model between the droplet size and main factors was constructed. The results showed that the range of droplet size is 70-120 μm, and meet the requirement of pest control. The nozzle diameter, spray pressure, and spray distance had significant influence on droplet size(α = 0.05), and the nozzle diameter was the strongest one, spray pressure was the weakest. The regression model was D50=78.53+0.000 29 H2+17.76 D2-0.077 HP, which had a high fitting degree, could provide evidence for optimization and series production of nozzle.
