Abstract: The components of the essential oil from Chinese rose (Crimson Glory) are determined qualitatively and quantitatively by GC-MS. The major components detected include citronellol, geraniol and nerol, which are responsible for the characteristic flavor of Chinese rose. Furthermore, the aromatic compounds β-phenylethyl acetate, elemol, a-eudesmol, β-eudesmol and β-cubebene are detected in the test sample and they are reported for the first time in the essential oil from Chinese rose "Crimson Glory".
