Abstract: Objective

Land use landscapes on steep slopes are an important part of the development and utilization of land resources in mountainous areas. These are heavily disturbed by human activities, which strongly affect the stability and security of this landscape. In order to rationally use and protect the steep slope land resources, it is necessary to study the disturbance degree of human activities in this landscape.

Method

The spatial and temporal changes of land use landscape disturbance degree on steep slopes in Guizhou Province from 1995 to 2015 were analyzed based on the landscape disturbance index using the spatial analysis tool of ArcGIS software.

Result

The disturbance degree of landscape types for forestland, shrub, grassland, built-up land and unused land, except farmland and water body, increased from 1995 to 2005, while the disturbance degree of all landscape types decreased from 2005 to 2015. Except for a small part of the eastern region and the central-western region, the disturbance degree on steep slope landscape increased in most areas of Guizhou Province from 1995 to 2005, which resulted in the aggravation of soil erosion. Howe?ver, the disturbance degree on steep slope landscapes decreased in most areas of Guizhou Province from 2005 to 2015, except for southeastern region and a small part of the western region, which restrained soil erosion. Landscape fragmentation, separation and disturbance in Guizhou Province were positively correlated with soil erosion, while landscape dominance was negatively correlated with soil erosion from 1995 to 2015 in Guizhou Province.

Conclusion

Changes in landscape of farmland, forestland, shrub and grassland under the disturbance of population growth and ecological management are important factors resulting in changes in the degree of landscape disturbance on steep slopes in Guizhou Pro?vince. There is a significant correlation between landscape disturbance and soil erosion.
