Abstract: The paper applies the method of canonical correlation analysis in multiva-riate statistical analysis to studying the interrelationships between the increment and site conditions of the Chinese fir plantation in Zhuting area, Hunan Province. The result shows that there is a significant correlation between the increment and site conditions of Chinese fir. Moreover the tree height in the increment is the most closely related to the site conditions, and the main factors affecting the increment in the site conditions are the management class, slope position and thickness of soil horizon. Therefore, the main factors affecting the growing of Chinese fir in site conditions may be analysed out by using this method. And, the reliable basis of theory can be provided for working out the rational management measure of the Chinese fir plantation.
