Abstract: 5 isolates of brown- sport fungus ( Lecanosticta acicola) from Pinus elliottii collected from Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces and 4 isolates from P. thunbergii collected from Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Anhui and Henan provinces and 1 isolate from P.massoniana colledted from Guangxi province were compared. The result shows that Masson’s pine isolate revealed evident difference from the other 9 isolates on the size of conidia cultural features esterase isozyme patterns and pathogenicity and the other 9 isolates are similar in many ways, although there are certain differences among them. It is considered that brown-sport fungus isolated from Guangxi province’ s Masson’ s pine is an independent pathotype, The other 9 isolates are all a pathotype.
