Abstract: The improvement bondability of poplar veneers by atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) treatment was investigated in this paper. The effect of processing power, treatment rate and treatment times on the bonding strength of plywood were evaluated. The results showed that the treatment could improve the veneer bonding strength remarkably. The improved rate of bonding strength ranged 10%-40%. Optimized processing conditions were as follows:processing power 4.5 kW, treatment rate 14 m/min and the treatment times 1.
