A review of the research on genetic engineering of flower color in Petunia hybrida

Abstract

Petunia hybrida is an important flower used for flowerbed and flowerpot with large market demand in China.The genetic engineering of flower color is significant to improvement of the flower color of P. hybrida,and contributes to genetic and breeding of P. hybrida.This paper elaborated the formation of anthocyanin in P. hybrida,the structure and regulation of genes related to the formation of flower color of P. hybrida,the technology(agrobacterium mediated transformation)and method of genetic engineering of flower color in P. hybrida.Problems exists in the genetic engineering of flower color were put forward,and prospects for development of the genetic engineering are presented.
