Abstract: Under the controlled conditions, effects of different fertilization treatments on polysaccharide content in one-year old seedlings of three Cyclocarya paliurus provenances, as well as distribution and accumulation dynamics of polysaccharide in leaf, root and stem were studied in the paper. The results showed that fertilization treatments had a significant influence on leaf area per plant(P<0.05), but did not affect height growth of C. paliurus seedling significantly. Polysaccharide content in the leaves of C. paliurus seedling ranged from 0.76% to 2.87%, and showed seasonal dynamics with the highest in October and lowest in September. Application of EDTA fertilizer obviously increased the polysaccharide content in the leaves of C. paliurus seedlings, while no significant difference was observed among the provenances. Both fertilization and provenance had no significant effects on polysaccharide content in the stems and roots and seasonal dynamic of polysaccharide content in the stems and roots was similar to the leaves. There was no significant difference in average content of polysaccharide content among different parts of C. paliurus seedlings, showing similar content in root and leaf, and the lowest content in stem. Results from this study would provide some important practical and theoretical bases for effectively managing the plantations of C. paliurus.
