Literature review and comments on forest ecological compensation

Abstract:

Forest ecological systems have played an important role in the socioeconomic development of human. Government agencies and other stakeholders have focused on restoration and conservation of forest ecosystem. The current literature review covers concepts and principles of forest ecological compensation, as well as its designs, and evaluates the effects and the impacts of transaction costs. Previous studies have made much progress in this field; however, there are still knowledge gaps that need to be addressed. Future research should be designed with prospective long-term forest ecological systems and socioeconomic development in mind, and should assess the impacts of forest ecological compensation, and further improve its designs.
