A new cultivar of blueberry ‘Zhaixuan 7’

Abstract:

According to the shrub height, blueberry can be divided into three categories: highbush, half?highbush, and lowbush, while according to the geological origin, blueberry can be divided into southern highbush, and northern highbush.‘Zhaixuan 7’is a new southern highbush cultivar of blueberry, and was selected from blueberry seedlings of highbush hybrid cross ‘NC1074’בUS237’, which were introduced from America. It is a semi?evergreen shrubby tree. The plant grows vigorously and the height is about 166.56 cm, and the average crown width is 165.78 cm×151.88 cm.This cultivar has good yield and strong adaptability. It has white bell?shaped flowers and the flowering period is from late March to early April. The fruit matures early, and the fruiting period is from late May to middle June. The fruit with a lot of white powder on the surface is medium size, the average fruit weight is about 1.5-1.7 g, the transverse diameter of the fruit is about 1.35 cm and the vertical diameter of the fruit is about 1.09 cm. The fruit color is purple blue. The contents of soluble solid and titratable acid are about 10.5%-13.5% and 0.25%-0.40%, respectively. The fruit tastes sweet and the quality is high. The plant is more resistant to heavy soil, and can grow well in the soil pH 4.0-6.0, and is suitable for cultivation in the Yangtze River Basin and most of southern China.
