Some separative and qualitative tests have been made for glucose, mannose, xylose, arabinose and galatose by thin-layer chromatography on phosphate impregnated kie2 selqur. Results show that mixed liquids of simple sugars can be well separated by kieselqur which is made in Zhejiang Province. Spots form well; no tails are found. Rf values are almost the same, which gives better reproducibility; hence, there exists possibility of determining sugars quantitatively in wood and pulp hydrolysates.
