Under the guidance of marxist economics, this paper makes a systematic study of the theory and method for the economic evaluation of ecological effect of forest. It holds that the differential rent, gained as a result of better resources and environment created by a better ecosystem which is made possible by forest, is the economic benefit which the ecological effect of forest brings about to the national economy. The measurement of these differential rents is nothing but the economic evaluation of ecological effect of forest.
