This paper reported on the method to measure wood resistance against chain saws and to find out the cross-cutting resistance formed during cutting green wood of Pinus Massoniana with chain saws of 10.26mm (0.404inc.) picth. On the basis of experiments, the important factors such as cutting velocity, sawdust thickness, feed force, saw kerf lenth and teeth type were analyzed.In order to obtain the best cutting performance, different methods should applied for the two different kinds of saws.
