This paper suggests a method by which to measure the cutting resistance of the saw chain with the application of electrical logging. Experiments of log cutting on chain of four kinds of pitches and three kinds of cutter types have been carried out and analysis made of the effect of saw chain pitches and cutter types on cutting performance. The paper provides an experimental and theoretical basis for drawing up the national standards of chain saws and saw chains.
