Abstract: Phoxim treatment of bamboo and bamboowarcs against Dinoderus minutus is proVed the same effective both in laboratoiy and in processing factory or workshop. Applying 0.2% phoxim to bamboo samples for the treatment of 3 minutes may cause death of the borers within 2~3 days and keep off thier attack for more than one year, but the same concentration of permethrin and trich-loifon for the treatment of 3 minutes may kill the borers in 6 days and 12 days respectively. Phoxim has a low toxic insecticide and a little amount of residue, which creates no environmental pollution and can be safe used. There is a high economic benefit according to our experiment in absorption 0.2% phoxim that may reduce the cost of dose spent per 100 kilograms of bamboo material only 0.11 Chinese yuan. The treated material of bamboo compared with the untreated one would save 5 times of the raw material lost. Therefore phoxim is an ideal new insecticide on production to control and cure the materi-l als of bamboo damaged by Dinoderus minuius. Since this method of treatment is easily operated and the cost of epuipment is cheap, so work on pioduction either in factory or in workshop can be carried on, and it had already been estimated by the Ministry of Forestry the People’s Republic of China several months ago (1987.5.11).
