Abstract: Some aspects of cultural history of Chinese fir were discussed in the paper. Main conclusions were ranged as follows: 1. Artificial cultivation of Chinese fir dated from not less than the Jing dynasty and maybe from the Han dynasty. 2. Sucker-afforestation came out at the time of the South-Song dynasty, slash burning and intercropping came out during the Ming dynasty. 3. Mainly Chinese fir were distributed in Anhui and Jiangxi before the Ming dynasty and in Fujian and Hunan after the Ming dynasty
