Abstract: Using principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis of sequence sample (CASS), the approach to quantatify the site grid system of ecological typology which is well known in Soviet Union and China has been discussed. The theory, data processing and computer programme of this approach has also been introduced in details. Through applying this approach in southern Purple Mountain, a good example has been given.
