Abstract: This paper deals with mathematieal, chemical, and biological methods in current plant taxonomy. The basic principles and methods of numerical taxonomy, chemosystematics, and karyology are discussed in detail. An evaluation is also made on b’losystematics and electron-microscopy. Then, three schools i. e. phenetics, evolutional systematics and cladistics in taxonomy are analysed and compared, systematic trees and cladograms are discussed and the development of taxonomic methods forecast.
