Abstract

It is estimated that leguminous trees and shrubs in China have approximately 763 species, here we enumerate only 212 species on the list. The list is a ready guide to 160 species which have been positively reported with nodulation, 44 species reported not to nodulate, 8 species both reported to nodulate and nonnodulate. An appendix in tabular form (Table 2), listing the genera, is alphabetically arranged, but segregated according to subfamily. This appendix enumerates the species in each genus and the number of nodulated and nonnodulatcd species reported. In the total counts, we have omitted synonyms. Blank spaces indicate the voids in our knowledge. The appendix ends with a computation of the total numbers of genera and species reported within the respective subfamily.
