Abstract: This paper studied 15 plots of the first planting Chinese fir plantation in Xianyushan Forest Farm of Anhui Province, with 15 plots located at the same altitude, on the same parent material and soil great group, and with the samemanaging measures. It turned out that the correlation-coefficients of the storages on soil organic matter, total nitrogen, organic phosphorus or aluminium phosphate to the site index of Chinese fir were significant. The result of stepwise regression showed that the storage of AL-P played the greatest part in the site index; the organic-P, the second; and the total N, the third. Analytical results on the nutrient status in the current needle demonstrated that the P% in the needle had the significant correlation with the site index, storage of organic-P or AL-P in soil, and the N/P ratio of needle in the region of 12-17 also formed a parabola relation with the site index. Therefore, both the above-mentioned analytical items of soil and needle can be used as reference index to diagnose soil nutritive conditions.
