Abstract: The pine caterpillar is a major forest pest in China. The gorernment organized three departments of teaching, scientific research and practice to integrate management of pine caterpillar during the 6th-five-year plan and 7th five-year plan. Through a ten-year test we have obtained an effective method of controlling pine caterpillar, which have been systematically summarized in theory and practice. This paper has made a synthetic review how to reasonabl apply technique of chemical control in integrate management of pine caterpillar. ① Executing rational pest management in order to make a chemical control into a main way of control pest. ② The insecticide of pyrethroid has become an effective insecticide of controlling pine caterpillar. ③ The insecticide of benzoylphenol vrea is a desirable bionics agent in controlling pine caterpillar. ④ Improving a fine spraying method is an important step of using insecticide to enhance an efficiency of controlling pest. ⑤ The technique of insecticidal smoke generator is a simple applying way, which has enjoyed growing favour. ⑥ Prospect: The development of insectistatics of nonbiocides will improve the technique of applying insecticide to a higher level.
