Abstract

The growht of brown spot disease foungi(Lecanosticta acicola)was different in needle extract filtrates of various pines with different disease resistance levels, In the needle extract filtrates of resisthant slash pine, masson pine and susceptible slash pine,Japanese black pine, the germination rates of the conidia were 38.7%,46.7%,51.9%and 55.2% respectively. The hyphae growth was better in susceptible needle filtrates than in resistant needle filtrates. On the other hand, the acidity and buffer capacities in the extract filtrates of resistant and susceptible slash pine were almost same, theacidit o f needle extract fiftrates in masson pine and Japanese black pine were a little bit higher, buttheir buffer capacities were all lower than that in slash pine needles. It is suggested that there are certain relations of disease resistance with some needle extractes, but not with pH values and buffer capacities.
