A RESEARCH ON ANCIENT WOOD IN XUDUN RUINS

Abstract: it was affirmed that there were mixed forest zone of deciduous species and evergreen broadleaved tress in Xudun area five to six thousand years ago, through the appraisal of 15 species unearthed in Xudun Ruins.It was the transition area between mixed forest zone of temperate-zoneconifer and broad-leaved trees and subtropical zone-evergreen broad-leaved trees belong to temperateand wet subtropical vegetation.There were Quercus acutissima and Quercus aliena of Fagaceae, Liquidambar formosana of Hamamelidaceae,Pistacia chinensis of Anacardiaceae,Dalbergia hupeana of Leguminosae etc. which are part of deciduous broad-leaved trees.There are Schima superba of Theaceae,Orhsieiof Leguminosae, Ligustrum lucidum of Oleaceae,belonging to evergreen broad-leaved trees.
