PRESENT CONSERVATION STATUS AND PROSPECT OF THE FOREST BIODIVERSITY IN CHINA

Abstract: The biodiversity of the forest is the most. abundant in land ecosystem. By the end of theyear 1993, 551 natural reserves intended for forest ecosystem and wild animals and plants had been established, which covers 1766. 8 million ha. Large numbers of forest parks and scenic spots serving dual functions of management and conservation had been also established at the same time. Based on thecomprehensive analysis of the present status and distributive characteristics of forest resources, the forest biodirversity conservation in natural reserves, forest parks and scenic spots has been discussed andthe prospect of conservation of the forest biodiversity in China in future has also been given.
