Abstract: : The Paper briefly reviews the main activities of the United Nations and other internationalorganizations concerned with conservation of global forest genetic resources according to the latest literature published in the world. It highlights the vital role that international organizations can and shouldplay in this field. Some recent development in the field of forest tree genetic resource conservation areexamined from a historical Perspective, focusing on continuing programmes, trends, and needs in thefield of forest tree genetic resources. The poper also provides a list of references to some relevent documents by international organizations.
