AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON PRESS_DRYING FAST_GROWNING CHINESE FIR THIN TIMBER

Abstract: This paper describes tempreature field, drying speed, compress rate and specific gravity, and investigates effects of drying technological parameters on drying quality, static bending strengh, surface hardenedness and dimensional stability in pressdrying of Chinese fir. The experimental results show that drying time can be shortened greatly, and material mechanicstrength can be increased. The material is well_protected from honeycomb cracks and maintains drying quality when stepdrying is used during drying process, and pressure is reduced continuously during the end of the period.
