By choosing the different productive lines in sawmills, these factors to the bandsaws, such as the use efficiency, power consumption and the relationship between the power and tree species, sawing height or feed speed, have been determined, analysed and studied. The results show that the vain run time of bandsaws is as 2～3 times as the effective time in the sawmill production; but the power consumption in sawing logs is as 3～4 times as that in vain run. Besides, the power consumption of bandsaw increases along with the increase of sawing height and feed speed, and the hardwood is more markedly than the softwood. The effective time and power consumption also depend on the different productive lines.
