A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON EFFECTS OF PRESS_DRYING FAST_GROWING CHINESE FIR UPON DIMENSIONAL STABILITY

Abstract

This paper is to study effects of some drying factors,such as compression rate,temperature,on the properties of set recovery,hygroscopicity,EMC,in press_drying Chinese fir. The results show (1) the bigger compression rate is,the less recovery of set is.The wood specimens were able to retain almost complete setting when compression rate is bigger than 45%.　(2)　The press-drying can improve the specimen hygroscopic efficiency,decrease its hygroscopicity and raise its dimensional stability.
