Abstract: The flora of Wanmulin Natural Reserve of Fujian Province, protected for nearly 600 years, has succeeded to a highly diversified and stable communities which contained evergreen broadleaf forests, Masson pine forests and secondary forests of Castanopsis This paper presented the cluster and principle canonical analysis (PCA) on the base of the importance value of community components The results were as follows: the pioneer community of the typical succession series was Masson pine forest (in barren sites along the ridges of the mountain) and secondary forest of Castanopsis (cut over areas) At the midand later period of succession, forest of Castanopsis carlesii and C fargesii appeared The climax vegetation was evergreen broadleaf forest of Castanopsis Later climax community which major components were broadleaf forests of Cinnamomum chekiangense of Lauraceae in partial areas with favorite conditions While the community of Altingia gracilipes was the transitional stage in this area The formulation and succession trend of Tsoongiodendron odorum were also discussed.
