Abstract: The flora of Wanmulin Natural Reserve of Fujian Province, protected for nearly 600 years, has succeeded to a highly diversified and stable communities which contained evergreen broadleaf forests, Masson pine forests and secondary forests of Castanopsis This paper presented the cluster and principle canonical analysis (PCA) on the base of the importance value of community components The results were as follows: the pioneer community of the typical succession series was Masson pine forest (in barren sites along the ridges of the mountain) and secondary forest of Castanopsis (cut over areas) At the midand later period of succession, forest of Castanopsis carlesii and C fargesii appeared The climax vegetation was evergreen broadleaf forest of Castanopsis Later climax community which major components were broadleaf forests of Cinnamomum chekiangense of Lauraceae in partial areas with favorite conditions While the community of Altingia gracilipes  was the transitional stage in this area The formulation and succession trend of Tsoongiodendron odorum were also discussed.
