Abstract: This paper is about the research on the properties of phosphorus adsorption and desorption in red soils under the stand of Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata). The main results showed that the red soil could adsorb large amount of phosphorus. Phosphorus in solution could be adsorbed quickly and firmly by the soil, while phosphorus adsorbed was difficult to desorb from the soil. Regression analysis revealed that phosphorus adsorption maxima and combining energy had a positive relation to the pH value and the amount of clay particle of the soil. But they had a negative relation to the contents of organic matter, available phosphate and total phosphate of the soil. Results also showed that the phosphorus adsorption maximum calculated from Langmuir equation could be considered as a reference for rational application of phosphatic fertilizer.
