Abstract

Fifty five isolates of S.sapinea were obtained on 16 pines and other 2 conifers from 13 provinces in China, and analyzed for their differences in cultural morphology and pathogenicity. There were significant cultural and morphological differences among isolates of S.sapinea .Based on cultural morphology the isolates could be divided into 3 groups by cluster analysis.. Greenhouse inoculation tests showed there were virulence differences among the 55 S.sapinea isolates to five pine species seedlings. The pathogenic differences to the seedlings in isolates could be associated with the differences of their cultural characteristics and disease occurrence in the field, but not with host species.
