Abstract

Samples investigated were collected from five plots with different planting density of 10 years old slash pine growing in an experiment’s forest farm of Zhoujia town of Changde city in Hunan province, main chemical composition of the wood has been statistically analyzed, meanwhile a comprehensive judgement on planting density was made. The results showed that the content of holocellulose among planting density vary from 73.78% to 75.56% and the extract of 1% NaOH vary from 22.64% to 23.84%.The alocholbenzene extractives content was between 1.54% and 2.14%.The results also revealed that planting density has no obvious influence on the contents of holocellulose and the extract of 1% NaOH,whereas having a significant effect on the alcoholbenzene extractives content, but the effect level has a obvious difference between planting density. To pulpwood,1.5 m×1.5 m planting density is the best form.
