Abstract

In order to find the effect of steaming and drying temperature upon deresination of the P.massoniana lumber, improve the drying rate and quality of wood, the P.massoniana lumber was pretreated with steam within different time and then dried at different platen temperatures. This study shows that when the lumber was treated in 2,2.5 and 3 h at 100 ℃ with relative humidity of 100%,the rate of deresination increases and the values are 46.245%,48.80% and 55.04% respectively. After being treated with steaming in 2.5 h,the lumber was dried at 140,160,180 ℃ platen temperatures correspondently. The rate of deresination increases along with the platen temperature and the values are 63.82%, 66.76% and 67.82% respectively in comparison with airseasoned timber.
