Investigation of Alpine Wild Ornamental Plants Germplasm Resources in Yunnan Province

Abstract

Because of the special environmental conditions,there are a great many of beautiful ornamental plants in Hengduan mountain regions in northwest of Yunnan province.Based on the data of field investigation of alpine wild ornamental plants in the regions,introduction and cultivation for several years,this paper emphatically discusses geological distribution,environment,biological characteristics,and the prospects of alpine wild ornamental plants which belong to 21 genus.Meanwhile,some protective exploitation advices are provided for wild ornamental plants.There are three methods for developing and utilizing these germplasm resources:the first,direct manipulation;the second,selecting artificial or natural mutant varieties;the third,producing new varieties by breeding.This paper also presents technology of varieties improving,propagating and cultivating alpine wild flowers.Preserving alpine wild ornamental plants germplasm resources,tackling the relationship of developing and preserving,accomplishing permanent utilization and everlasting development are very important.
