Abstract

A partly-controlled field experiment was designed and carried on to study the seedling salt-tolerance of twelve new poplar and willow clones, together with four levels of salinity treatment on coastal area. The results showed that high salt content caused the survival rate, conserve rate and biomass of the seedlings to decrease obviously. Two species and twelve clones had different salt-tolerant ability in different growing period.Corresponding to the seedling conserve rate of 50%, the threshold values of the soil salt content of clones were:I-74 poplar clone for 0.26%~0.34%,I-69 poplar clone for 0.24%~0.33%,I-35 poplar clone for 0.18%~0.33%,J35-13 willow clone for 0.10%~0.20%,J30-16 willow clone for 0.10%~0.13%,J4-34 willow clone for 0.09%~0.14%.
