Abstract: In order to study the requirements of plant process of Lycoris radiata on the shading level and the planting density,an experiment of the shading level and the planting density of three different levels were arranged to study effects of the shading and the planting density on growth and quality of cut flowers of Lycoris radiata, based on a split-plot design. The results were as follows:(1)Different shading level had no significant effect on the growth of Lycoris radiata, but had a significant effect on the quality of cut flowers of Lycoris radiata. The treatment of 60% shading appeared the best quality due to these flowers having longer stalks. In contrast, the quality of cut flowers, especially the quantity of cut flowers per area was low when the plants were grown at heavy shades.(2)Planting density had no significant effect on the growth of Lycoris radiata.Planting density affected the quantity and quality of cut flower of Lycoris radiata. When the density was too high, the quantity per area could be improved, but the quality was low because of limited growing place. On the contrary, when the density was low, quality became higher but quantity decreased. The test showed 15 cm×20 cm was the best planting density.
