Abstract

Through applying different kinds of thinning intensities for the existing typical (Pinus) elliottii forests with 8,12 and 16 years old according to the sites and managements in Anhui and through analysing the timber production, organisms, timber properties, input and output,it was shown that thinning encouraged somehow the growth of stands more to younger stands to mid-aged one;the bigger size trees were increasing as the thinning intensities. The first thinning after 10~12 years while remaining trees 900~1?100?per hm~2.The suitable thinning interval could be 8 years. It is studied that the gentle thinning was applied to train bigger size timber forest with existing trees 600?per hm~2 for the Pinus elliottii.
