Abstract: Fokienia originated from East Asia in late Jurassic. After fourth glacier, only F.hodginsii as a relict survied in south China and north vietnam, where is considered as relic centre.According the analysis of historical data,F.hodginsii distributed wider in the ancientry than modern times. The area is from Fujian coastal east to the southeast of plateau of Yunnan and Guizhou, basically a long Nanling Mountains range latitude in succession. The modern distribution centre area is 110°~119° E,24°30′~26°30′ N,and not concatenation.F.hodginsii distributed apeak 500~1?000?m in altitude. In generally,it distributed in a higher altitute in west and north than in east and south. The distribution area is subtropic warm-moist climate.F.hodginsii is not a deep root plant, and the crown of a tree holds a lot of snow in winter,so it is very easy to be damaged by strong wind and heavy snow, which is the restricted factor towards the high altitude.
